Photo Reproduction & Card Stock: What to Know
When printing cards with photos, it’s important to know that not all papers behave the same way. Our House, Premium, and Super Thick stocks are uncoated—ideal for traditional greeting cards and easy to write on. Ink gently absorbs into the surface, giving photos a soft, natural finish with muted colours and rounded edges. The warm, off-white tone of our Premium and Super Thick options can also add a creamy richness to photo prints.
If sharp detail and bold colour are your priority, we recommend our 400gsm Silk stock. Its coated surface helps retain clarity and vibrancy, resulting in punchier photo reproduction—while still being perfect for writing on.
And remember, printed photos will always differ slightly from how they appear on a screen. Backlit devices make images glow, while print relies on ink, paper tone, and reflected light. This is especially noticeable in bright, high-contrast, or low-light photos.
That’s why we always recommend ordering a printed sample first—so your treasured images turn out exactly as you imagined.
